Caribbean Linked 2

Only Flexible Man

Several years after the rise of the first sculpture of the Flexible Man I decided to make suits based on the Flexible man concept. The first suit was created in 2011 and performed in public spaces in Trinidad & Tobago. For the Caribbean Linked 2 residency at the Ateliers 89 in Aruba I made 4 suits which were used for a performance on the beach side and also on the opening night in the exhibition space. The performers used following words to form their movements in the suits: flexible, aggressive, dominant, dance, humor, uncontrolled and popular. The result is a video of approximately 2 minutes long. This video is inspirational material for upcoming performances.

I appreciate the assistance of:
Rodell Warner, Germille German &  Nicole Smythe-Johnson in the suits as performers
Omar Kuwas for filming
Holly Bynoe for shooting pictures with Mark King’s camera
Ryan Daniel Oduber & Holly Bynoe for editing

I Sculpture Paramaribo

Study for a sculpture project in Paramaribo.

Sculptures will be made of fiberglass.

Each sculpture will be made especially for a chosen space.

Each chosen space will have an historically importance for the people living and working in the city.
